Barbara Hodson, an exceptional speech-language pathologist, developed the Cycles Phonological Remediation Approach,  to aid children who face difficulty in being understood. Hodson's research demonstrates that children can make progress more quickly in speech therapy by cycling through all the phonological processes they need to address. Instead of focusing on one sound until it is mastered, each process is worked on for a set time before moving on to the next. This method is similar to how children naturally learn sounds.  

The cycles approach is best suited for children who exhibit the following:

 - Parents frequently have to interpret their child's speech 

- Highly unintelligible (very difficult to understand)

 - Frequently leave out or omit speech sounds 

- Replace some sounds with other sounds 

- Don't use very many different consonant sounds  

 Our therapists have received extensive training from Dr. Hodson herself, and they can helpyour child in following her well-laid-out plan.  

During each week, patterns are targeted for 60 minutes, which can be split into two 30-minute sessions or three 20-minute sessions. A select 4-5 words are carefully chosen to focus on repeatedly during those 60 minutes.
